The Compucon
Phoenix Thin Client is a Windows-based terminal (WBT) for those
who need a completely centralized desktop management option. Because
the Phoenix is a completely stateless device, all of the terminal's
settings are saved on the server, allowing for more control over
the desktop experience. The Linux-based operating system can provide
Microsoft RDP, optimized Citrix ICA, Terminal Emulation, Browser
and Customized local applications (VOD, MP3 player...) with all
terminal management performed at the server. Therefore, it is the
most easily managed Windows-based terminal.
Lower total
cost of ownership (TCO).
Low-end
PCs cannot deliver the business or cost advantages available with
thin clients. Even though their initial purchase cost may be about
the same as a thin client, the cost of managing, servicing, maintaining,
and supporting them until they become obsolete (which happens sooner
than a thin client) far exceeds the respective costs of supporting
thin clients.
Easy to upgrade,
deploy and more flexible.
The simpler,
easier, smarter and more reliable desktop device for the new millennium
without the pains of the PC.
Simpler to
use and easier to manage remotely, it is a completely centralized
desktop management allows for more control and with higher security.
The Linux-based
operating system provides Microsoft RDP and optimized Citrix ICA,
and Terminal Emulation.
Easy to integrate
the Phoenix with Windows NT4.0 or Windows 2000 server.
Supports
Multilingual User Interface and Local Browser with Macromedia plug-in
and Acrobat plug-in.
Built-in
Customized Local Application (such as VOD, MP3 player...).
The Phoenix
is a new generation of smart computing products that is designed
to be flexible and perform dedicated tasks extremely well. This
computing appliance has the speed and power of a personal computer,
but is simpler to use, easier to manage, and it costs less.
With Phoenix,
you can get right to work. There's no need to understand how to
use complex operating system commands, no need to
load applications, no need to integrate it with the rest of your
network. Just plug it in, and in seconds you can be productive.
In
addition to running local applications, Phoenix can connect to your
network and run applications from servers. So you can harness the
power of all of your computers to run applications designed for
any operating system - Linux, Windows, UNIX, and the Internet. Applications
do not traverse the network and are not downloaded into the thin
client, eliminating user security and bandwidth issues common with
PCs.
Reliability
is another benefit of the Phoenix, because it doesn't have a hard
drive or moving parts, and is virtually silent. There is almost
nothing to go wrong. This means very high reliability, with uptimes
measured in months and years, not days or weeks like general-purpose
PCs.
Simple
Plug-and-Play Installation
The
Phoenix is easy to install, use and manage. Installation simply
requires plugging the terminal into the network. Even the local
network address can be automatically assigned. Sessions are individually
configured with a user-friendly administrative interface with no
added host set-up required. Users are up and running quickly using
a technology that fits seamlessly into a company's current IT infrastructure.
Advanced
/ Flexible Network Terminal
The
Phoenix achieves unparalleled performance and connectivity using
standard Ethernet protocols or Modem. With lower requirement and
maintenance costs, higher security and reliability than PCs, Phoenix
simply makes more sense for organizations facing today's business
challenges. The Phoenix's Linux software architecture centralizes
and simplifies desktop administration, adapts to changing environments
and extends the hardware life cycle.
Internet
Access Client
Phoenix
series uses Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows NT 4.0 (Terminal
Server Edition) to access Internet browser. Phoenix can also select
to have a browser locally. Once Phoenix software is installed, only
a simple session configuration is required to run a Phoenix series
web browser session.
Support
RDP and ICA Protocols
Flexible
support for both Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and Citrix
Independent Computing Architecture (ICA).
Local
Print, audio input and output, and hi-resolution
Users
can have local Printing, Audio, and hi-resolution ( 65,536 colors)
with Citrix ICA 3 & 6 software.
Superior
Price-to-Performance Ratio
The
Phoenix Windows-based Terminal (WBT) gives Information Technology
(IT) managers the ability to deploy high performance desktop devices
to task-based users while controlling IT costs and easing management
headaches. The Phoenix provides managed access to mission-critical
applications with a low overall cost of ownership.
The Phoenix not only offers a lower acquisition cost up front, but
also continues to deliver cost savings through ongoing management
and maintenance of the deployment. Since all application software
and hardware upgrades take place on the servers, IT departments
save on administrative and upgrade costs.
Simple,
Advanced Design for Superior Reliability
With
the elimination of local storage, enterprise business applications
will not be adversely affected by individual users installing applications,
configurations or viruses.
